Tokyo Olympics 2020 was going to be hosted by Japan but due to the pandemic, it was postponed till the situation was restored. Recently, the spread of coronavirus in Japan’s different city is increasing day by day.
The history of the Olympics in Japan is about a century old. Therefore, Tokyo Olympics are important for Japan. They want to host the Olympics games and execute the event successfully. However, the Olympics games are delaying from the previous year when the pandemic appeared.
Tokyo Olympics, Public, and the Government
Despite the vaccination has begun in Japan on a large scale, the citizens are opposing the idea of the Olympics 2020 happening in Tokyo. But the Japanese Prime Minister, Yoshihide Suga, is insisting on Olympics games. He is in the favor of an event to occur in Japan, however, the majority of the Japanese voted against this idea. They think that it will cause a spike in cases of coronavirus and the situation will get worse if the event happens in Japan.
Recently, an online poll is published and around 80% of citizens voted against the Olympics games. This shows that the Japanese do not want the Olympics to happen at the cost of lives.
The Japanese government and the organizers assure that the games will be fully secured and every safety measure will be taken. Still, the public is not satisfied. The event is scheduled from July 23 to August 28 and around 15,000 athletes will fly from different areas of the world to Japan. This is an alarming bell for the public because virus spread might surge due to this step. However, the government is insisting to host the event.
Moreover, the public is protesting against it and do not want to host the international event in their country. Now, no one knows what will happen. It has become a mystery whether the Tokyo Olympics will happen or not.
