The man plunged a car into two officers at a barricade outside the U.S. Capitol and shotone of the officers. In no time, he was shot to death by police. He had been suffering from neurotic, paranoia and suicidal thoughts, a U.S. official told The Associated Press. Inquirers are also convinced that it was a random incident from a troubled young man.
Video of the Friday afternoon attack reveals that the driver can be seen appearing from the crashed car with a knife in his hand and starting to run at the couple of officers, Capitol Police acting Chief Yogananda Pittman told reporters. Police gun fired theaccused, 25-year-old Noah Green, who died at a hospital. The official stated inquirerhad talked to Green’s family, who talked about his extremely paranoid perception.
The attack left a veteran U.S. Capitol Police officer dead and another hospitalized.
The U.S. Capitol Police officer who died on 2nd March was recognized as an 18-year veteran of the force. William “Billy” Evans has been connected with the department since 2003. He was a member of its first responders unit. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi hailed Evans as a “martyr for our democracy,” while Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said he was “heartbroken.”
