President Trump’s tariffs represent a direct assault on the very workers who drive Nevada’s economy—hospitality staff, construction crews, and agricultural laborers alike. Along with closing the border and the potential deportation of 11 million undocumented workers who play a vital role in powering the nation’s economy, these reckless tariffs threaten to destabilize our economic landscape and push us toward a severe recession.
We simply cannot allow this to happen.
The imposition of tariffs will not only drive up the cost of food, housing, and essential everyday items, but it will also jeopardize thousands of hospitality jobs that are crucial to our state. Rather than addressing corporate price gouging, these policies are creating economic chaos, making it increasingly difficult for hardworking families to make ends meet.
Nevada’s workers deserve better. We refuse to stand by while these policies imperil the livelihoods of workers, immigrant families, our jobs, our wages, and our future. The Culinary Union remains steadfast in its commitment to defend working families and to protect the good union jobs that have long made Nevada strong.
