The launch featured intense competitions in popular titles such as NBA 2K, Call of Duty, and Tekken . Sparks’ vision is to blend esports with entertainment, likening it to the drama of WWE and the prestige of traditional sports leagues . During the event, Sparks posed with Julian Dancer as Street Fighter’s Ryu and Vi Ho as Chun-Li .
The GGL’s unique model brings celebrities into esports as team owners, with figures like Nick Cannon, Lil Durk, and Jermaine Dupri already signed on . Each team consists of both casual and skilled players, with salaries starting at $50,000 . Sparks’ approach aims to eliminate gaming stereotypes and promote esports as a viable career path .
The league’s upcoming season kicks off in May 2025 and is set to feature live events, streaming partnerships, and community engagement, creating a holistic, entertainment-driven gaming experience .
