A year ago Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd and found guilty. Derek Chauvin is a former Minneapolis officer. He has been charged with unintentional murder of second degree, manslaughter second degree, and third-degree murder.
Trial of Derek for killing Floyd
Last Monday jury spent 10 hours of discussion regarding information of week three trial. In the jury, there were six white people and six black and multiracial. Eric nelson who is a defense attorney said that George Floyd died partly by using the drug and he also said that Chauvin was just following his police training when he was arresting George Floyd.
The case was summed up by the prosecutor against Chauvin. He handcuffed George Floyd and gasped 27 times, which was the reason that Georg Floyd could not breathe. Chauvin had put his knee on the neck of George Floyd for nine minutes and 29 seconds. Floyd was not a threat and at that time there was just a need for compassion.
Guilty or not guilty?
The case was not proved by the state and it is beyond a reasonable doubt. Jurors were asked to acquit manslaughter and murder charges from Chauvin, by the defense attorney. Chauvin was not guilty of the charges against him, and if he is convicted then he faces up in prison for 40 years. After the dismissal of the jury, Congresswoman Maxine Waters was criticized by Cahill. Despite the plea of Cahill resident of the United States of America also described the evidence against Chauvin and it was overwhelming according to him.
The president of the United States said that he is praying regarding the verdict should be the right verdict. Authorities of Minneapolis said that we should protect the life and property of people and don’t allow civil unrest to descend into Chaos as well. Last Monday Judge Cahill said that comments of water can lead to the verdict that is being overturned and appealed.
